Susanna Knittel
is a somatic educator and performing artist. Raised in Switzerland, she received a diploma in Child Psychology and worked at the Jung Clinic in Zurich, before coming to America. In San Francisco and Central America, she worked as a photojournalist for Swiss magazine and directed documentaries for Video West. Later she was mentored by Robert Frank.
Her early performance influences include Ruth Zaporah and Scott Kelman, later she studied voice with Marita Günther from the Roy Hart Theater in France.

An innovator all her life, she holds a design patent and is the founder of the Thich Nhat Hanh inspired ‘Full Blossom Sangha’ in Santa Barbara. On the faculty of the Center for Council Training in Los Angeles, she developed ‘Living Council’ and initiated the Center for Council Training in Europe. In collaboration with the International Peacemaker community, she led trainings in Israel and various European countries.

Susanna lived in close contact with indigenous cultures in Senegal and Guatemala, before raising her daughter. She is an advocate for youth, and has presented her work in prisons, schools, at retreat centers and conferences.

Her latest performances, ‘LA Women’ and ‘welcoming the eye of light’ have been site specific.
